Seasonal Records:
Engine hours, fuel use and oil/filter changes.

This information is entered into the Ships Log

Example of the form used for this purpose.

Logging Engine Hours:
The engine hours meter is located at the bottom of the Rev Counter dial in the cockpit below the entrance to the saloon. It is sunk into the rev counter housing, making it very difficult to read so good eyesight and suppleness is a definite advantage when getting down to read it! This should be done at the start and end of each holiday and each time the fuel tank is filled. The information will also enable you to estimate how much fuel is left in the tank.

Changing the engine oil and filter:
The engine oil and filter is changed every 150hrs. Fresh oil is kept in the cockpit locker whilst the filters are kept in the storage locker under the Pilot Berth.
The oil filter is located on the starboard side of the engine and easy access to it is possble through the inspection hatch inside the cockpit locker. A manual pump, located on the port side of the engine, with easy access through the top inspection hatch, makes removing the oil an easy process. Oil changes are entered ino the Log Book. Only one or two oil changes are needed each season.

Fuel Use:
The fuel tank should be filled at the end of each holiday so it is ready for the next person coming out. Fuel is available from a mobile tanker at Vliho. Vicky will phone the delivery driver for you when needed. It usually arrives at the end of the afternoon. Record the amount of fuel purchased and the engine hours reading at that time to enable the amount of fuel use per hour to be calculated. These need to be entered in the Log Book.

Recording all the above:
A record of all the above is maintained on a form in the front of the Log Book. These should be completed at the beginning and end of each holiday and on each occasion fuel is purchased. Oil and filter changes should be carried out every 150hrs. These should also be recorded.
